Abstract

Objective:To investigate the pathological significance of hMLH1 and MGMT protein expressions in non-small cell lung cancer. Methods:The immunohistochemistry was used to detect protein expressions of hMLH1 and MGMT in 110 samples of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and 42 their surrounding tissues, and the Chi-square test,Spearman correlation analysis and Fisher's cxact test were used to analyze their correlations with clinicopathological agents. Results:The positive expression rate of hMLH1 protein in NSCLC was statistically higher than that in surrounding tissues(54.5% vs 14.3%,P0.05).In NSCLC,hMLH1 protein expression was associated with lymph node metastasis(P0.05),but not associated with patient gender, age, smoking status and tumor histological type(P0.05).The positive expression rate of MGMT protein in NSCLC was statistically higher than that in surrounding tissues(41.8% vs 16.7%,P0.05).In NSCLC,no significant relationship was found between MGMT protein expression and patient clinicopathological agents(P0.05).hMLH1 protein expression was not correlated with MGMT protein expression(P0.05).Conclusion:Detection of hMLH1 and MGMT protein expressions may be helpful for the diagnosis of NSCLC.
