Research on Competitiveness of Coastal Tourism Cities in China: An Empirical Study of Dalian,Qingdao,Xianmen and Sanya

With an analysis of the influential factors of competitiveness,the authors built an indicators system for coastal tourism cities and applied factor analysis method to make an empirical study of four reps of coastal tourism cities in China.The result of the study suggests that each city has its own characteristics demonstrated with five indexes including tourism comprehensive competitiveness,existing competitiveness,potential competitiveness,environmental supports,and visitors' impressions.In terms of comprehensive competitiveness,Xiamen ranks the first while Qingdao ranks the last;that Sanya's existing competitiveness and Dalian's potential competitiveness are comparatively higher than the other two;and that a from-strength-to-weakness ranking of the competitivenesses of coastal tourism destinations in China runs as existing competitiveness,potential competitiveness and environmental support.
