Abstract

In order to choose the most efficient and lowest toxicity pesticide to control Bemisia tabaci in protected melon production in Hainan, this field experiment was conducted to estimate the efficacy of six pesticides on control of Bemisia tabaci.By investigating the quantity of pests before and after pesticide application, the control efficacy of the pesticides in 1d,3d,7d and 10d were calculated. The efficacy of 1.5% Emamectin benzoate(EC) was 97.67%,91.48%,82.24% and 90.16%,respectively; and the efficacy of 3.2% Abamectin(EC) was 97.80%,86.85%,93.69% and 91.07%,respectively. The results showed that the two pesticides not only had the highest efficacy, but also had long control period. These two insecticides may be considered as the first choice to control B. tabaci in protected melon production in Hainan.
