Abstract
A system study on how to reform and maintain the river channel for medium flood in the lower Yellow River is carried out based on the field data analysis and numerical simulation,aiming at the target of elevating the flood control capacity of the river and maintaining the Yellow River as a healthy river.The probable scale of medium flood river channel under the likely flow-sediment conditions in the near future is calculated and the effect of different operation modes of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir is analyzed.The study results show that it is possible and realistic to reform and maintain a river channel in lower Yellow River for safely transport a bank-full discharge of(4 000m~3/s).Furthermore,the main factors influencing the reform and maintenance are studied and corresponding measures are suggested.
