Abstract
Aim:To investigate the relationship between the expression of Claudin-7, E-cadherin proteins and clinicopathologic parameter in ESCC.Methods:Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of Claudin-7 and E-cadherin proteins in ESCC.Results: The ratio of abnormal Claudin-7 expression was 72%(52/72) in ESCC.Abnormal expression of Claudin-7 was correlated with histological grade, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and infiltration depth in ESCC.The ratio of abnormal expression of E-cadherin was 66.7%(48/72) in ESCC. Abnormal expression of E-cadherin was associated with histological grade, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, infiltration depth and venous invasion in ESCC. Abnormal Claudin-7 expression was associated with reduced E-cadherin expression in ESCC(rs=0.735,P=0.001).Conclusion: The expressions of Claudin-7 and E-cadherin correlate with the development, invasion, metastasis and prognosis of ESCC. Simultaneous detection expression of Claudin-7 and E-cadherin may be useful for the prediction of treatment and prognosis in ESCC.
