Abstract

It has been found that p toluene sulphonic acid was superior to H 2SO 4when used as catalyst for esterification of isoamyl alcohol with hexanoic acid. The optimum reaction conditions in synthesis of isoamyl hexanoate catalyzed with p toluene sulphonic acid were determined, with the yield at 98.03%
