Abstract
AIM: To investigate the anti-hyperlipidemia effect of tartarian buckwheat shell extract(TBSE) in rats and its mechanism.METHODS: Fifty male Wistar rats were randomly separated into 5 groups according to body weight. They were fed respectively with normal diet, high lipid diet, high lipid diet supplemented with different concentrations of TBSE(0.825,0.165 g/kg),high lipid diet supplemented with Lipingzhi capsules(LPZ,(0.067) g/kg).After 12 weeks, the concentrations of serum Ch,Tg, HDL-C,LDL-C,MDA,the activity of SOD and GPX,liver index were measured.RESULTS: Compared with those in normal diet group, the serum Ch,Tg,LDL-C,MDA and liver index in high lipid diet group increased significantly(P0.05),the serum HDL-C and SOD decreased significantly(P0.05).The serum GPX activity decreased and the body weight increased, but there was no significant statistical difference(P0.05).In LPZ group, compared with those in high lipid diet group, the serum Ch,Tg,LDL-C and MDA decreased significantly(P0.05),the serum GPX activity increased significantly(P0.05),but the serum HDL-C,SOD,body weight and liver index had no significant statistical changes(P0.05).Compared with those in high lipid diet group, the serum Ch,Tg,LDL-C,MDA and liver index in TBSE group decreased significantly(P0.05),the(serum) GPX and SOD activity increased significantly(P0.05).The serum HDL-C increased and the body weight decreased but there was no significant statistical difference(P0.05).(CONCLUSION:) TBSE can reduce the blood lipid and liver(index) and enhance the blood antioxidant activity in rats with(hyperlipidemia,) which can protect the normal tissues against the injury induced by high lipid diet.
