On Tao of Taoism and Confucianism as a Realm of Life

Tao is the meta-category of the Chinese classical aesthetic.As a realm of life,the essential feature of Tao denotes a free and unrestrained spiritual state,with no boundary between subjects and objects.While to the Confucianists,they emphasized the moderate,delighted and neutral.That is,Taoist takes freedom from the external fetters and return to man’s nature as one’s highest realm while Confucianism regards the pursuit of one’s moral (excellence) and the perception of the omnipresent heavenly principles as one’s supreme life state.Their values are different,but both of them are to recognize the existence of one’s self and pursue a spirit of man as (man.)It’s these two Taos ( Taoist’s emphasis of realm and Confucianism’s stress of ethics) that have constituted a self-satisfying and-delighted harmonious life spirit for the Chinese.
