Abstract
Religion enjoys a significant place in people's life and the development of languages.Figure of speech, often used as a way to improve the expression, is widely employed in idioms concerning religion.Taking a departure point from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, namely, simile, metaphor, metonymy and synecdoche, this paper compares the idioms originating from Christianity.
