Abstract

The peel of the citrus grandis was extracted with alcohol at room temperature, and concentrated to dry. The crude extract was chromatographed on silica gel column eluted with Petroleum Ether,Ethyl acetate,N-Butanol,Methanol and H2O to gain bioactive components. The antioxidant activity of the extracts were studied by the DPPH system, the nitro blue tetrazolium(NBT) photo-reduction and Cyto(Ⅱ)-Cu2+ system. The results showed that all the extracts from the peel of citrus grandis have scavenging effect on DPPH free radical ,superoxide free radical and hydroxyl radical . The extract from the N-Butanol has the strongest effect on the DPPH free radical, and the extract from the methanol has the strongest effect on the superoxide free radical.
