Abstract
Gansu Province is one of region with the most serious seismic disasters. In this paper, the main types of rural buildings and their seismic performance are discussed based on rural building survey and seismic hazard evidences analysis. The factors affecting the seismic vulnerability including site selection, foundation, structure layout, construction craftsmanship, material adoption and maintenance, are analyzed which can provide useful clues for the improvement of seismic resistance of rural buildings.
