Abstract
Objective The main purpose is to understand the immunization coverage rate of hepatitis B(HB) vaccine and of the HBsAg carrier rate of children below 3 years old and the carrier rate of hepatitis B of pregnant woman in Wuhan City. Methods The survey was conducted in 1992, 1994, and 1999, 2003,respectively. Multistage stratifed sampling method was used to select 2 243 children in 2 layers (the city was first layer and the rural area was second layer). Results It suggests that the difference between the city and rural area was minicries gradually, along with strengthening inoculate work of hepatitis B vaccine in rural area HBsAg carrier rate of the children investigated was reduced to 1.29% in 2003 from 9.1% in 1992.It reduced by 85.82% when comparing with the children of same age in 1992.The HBsAg positive rate was increase to 83.10% in 2003 from 42.42% in 1992, it increased by 49.01% when comparing with the children of same age in 1992.No significant statistical difference found in the HBsAg carrier rate and the HBsAg positive rate between the city children and the rural children in 2003 (χ2=0.1624,P0.01;χ2=1.5417,P0.01). Conclusion After the HB vaccination had been introduced into EPI,strengthening HB vacination and improving the current situation are the main tasks in the future in our Province.
