Abstract
The viscosity and smelting temperature of blast furnce slag with medium titania and high alumina content were studied under neutral atmoshphere using RTW type of melt physical determinator.The influence of basicity and chemical compositions on slag viscosity and melting temperature were obtained.The results show under neutral atmosphere,the viscosity reduces and the melting temperature rises with the increase of the basicity of slag from 0.92 to 1.12.When the MgO content in slag is increased,the viscosity of slag decreases firstly and then increases.The viscosity of slag rises significantly with increasing the Al2O3 content in slag.When the Al2O3 content is more than 14.75%,the effect of Al2O3 content on the slag viscosity is not obvious.The viscosity reduces with increasing the TiO2 content from 10.57%-14.57%.Namely,the increase of TiO2 content and temperature insignificantly influences the slag viscosity.But when the vanadium-titanium iron ore is smelted in the BF,the Ti(C,N) content rises with increasing TiO2 content of the raw materials and temperature of liquid iron,which effects the slag viscosity significantly.Therefore,it should control the reduction of TiO2 in blast furnace in order to reduce the formation of titanium compound with high melting point,and the liquid iron temperature should be controlled strictly to make the BF smelt iron ore with high titanium content.
