A Study on the Diminutive Suffixes of Loudi Dialects

Abstract

Loudi dialects mainly use suffixes aszi,ji,zai,zaiji to express diminutives.The functions of them are different,which have manifested the characteristic of the diminutive in Loudi dialects.Some diminutives in Xinhua,Lengshuijiang and Lianyuan dialects are following the tone modification.The article summarizes the two types of suffixes superposition,such asroot+zi/ji+zai/zaijiandroot+zi+ji.The reasons of the suffixes superposition are the needs of cognition and the change of the semantic meaning.
