Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of sole L-arginine (L-Arg),glutamine(Gln) or their combination on traumatic rats in protecting their hepatic function in the early stage, dilating liver vessels and easing endotoxemia. Methods Models of rats with severe trauma were established and at 4 periods of time (8,16,24 and 48 h),5 groups (n=9 each) were set up:normal control group,NS group,L-Arg group;Gln group;L-Arg+Gln group. The contents of plasma endotoxin in portal veins and NO_2-/NO_3- in liver tissues were measured at each time point.Results[WT5”BZ] The contents of NO_2-/NO_3- in L-Arg group,L-Arg+Gln group were markedly increased as compared with those in normal control group,NS group and L-Gln group at the same period (P 0.05).The contents of NO_2-/NO_3- in liver tissue in NS and Gln group was increased as compared with normal control group (P 0.05).The contents of plasma endotoxin in portal veins in NS group were remarkably increased as compared with other groups at the same period (P 0.01).The contents of endotoxin in portal veins in L-Arg+Gln group were significantly lower than those in other groups at the same period (P 0.05).Conclusion In the early stage, combined use of L-arg and Gln might have a better effect on traumatic rats in protecting their hepatic function and easing endotoxemia.
