Efficacy of piperacillin/tazobactam in the treatment of moderate and severe hospital infection in CCU

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effect and safety of piperacillin/tazobactam in the treatment of hospital infection of serious patients in CCU. Methods:62 patients were randomized into two groups. Group A was treated with piperacillin/tazobactam infusion with a dose of 4.5 g/8 h. Group B was treated with cefminox sodium infusion with a dose of 1.0 g/8 h.Each group was treated with amikacin infusion with a dose of 0.4~0.6 g/d. All patients were treated 7 to 10 days. Results:Group A showed a effective rate of 87.1%, bacteria clearance of 82.5%, and adverse reaction incidence of 3.2%. Group B showed a effective rate of 64.5%, bacteria clearance of 60.5% and adverse reaction incidence of 6.4%.The effective rate and bacteria eradication rate in piperacillin/tazobactam treatment grorp were high than those in cefminox treatment groups (P0.05). Both two groups had transient and slight side-effects.Conclusion:Piperacillin/tazobactam shows a better effect on hospital infection of serious patients in CCU than cefminox,and can be used as empirical antibiotics for CCU morderate or severe hospital infection in critical patients.
