Abstract

Objective To explore the applications of modified seldinger and traditional PICC catheterization in patients undergoing chemotherapy and analyze their advantages and disadvantages. Methods There were 56 patients applied modified seldinger in experimental group, and 73 cases with traditional PICC catheterization in control group. The catheter indications, success rate of catheterization and main complications were recorded in two groups. Results The catheter indications and the success rate of catheterization in experimental group were 96%~100% and 93% respectively, higher than those in control group(P0.01);while in experimental group, complication rate accounted for 4%,lower than that in control group(P0.01);however,modified seldinger technology cost 500 yuan more than traditional PICC.Conclusion With the application of modified seldinger technology, catheter indications and the success rate of catheterization have been improved and the complication rate has been reduced. However, patients with better vascular conditions can choose the traditional PICC catheterization for its advantage over price.
