The random double-blind contrast trial of homemade Candesartan Cilexetil treated on essential hypertension

Aim:To evaluate the effect and safety of homemade Candesartan Cilexetil when treated with mild or moderate essential hypertension patients.Methods: This was a random,double-blind,double-analogue and positive drug parallel contrast trial.Forty-one essential hypertension patients were treated with either Candesartan Cilexetil(4～8 mg/d) or Irbesartan(150～300 mg/d) randomly.If the patients'blood pressures didn't decrease to the normal level after 4 weeks,we would add hydrochlorothiazide(HCT,12.5 mg/d) into therapy for 8 weeks.Results: The total effective rates of the single drug in Candesartan Cilexetil trial group and Irbesartan contrast group were 77.8% and 72.7% respectively.When patients were added with hydrochlorothiazide,the total effective rates of two groups were 100.0% and 90.9% respectively.The adverse reaction incidences of both groups were low and mild,the compliances were 94.7% and 95.5% proximately.Conclusion: The homemade Candesartan Cilexetil is effective and safe for mild or moderate essential hypertesion patients,and which has significant dose-effect relationship.Its therapeutic effect which can be increased when patients are treated with hydrochlorothiazide together,and adverse reaction are similar to Irbesartan.
