Abstract

Objective:To know the contamination of Crytosporidium parvum and giardia lambli in surface water in Shenzhen City,to provide scientific data for producing drinking water.Methods:21 samples from 8 country water plants and 3 waste water treatment plants using the standard detecting methods of EPA,Parasitic protozoa Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum were detectcd by following steps:filtering, washing, magnetic isolation and staining. Results:Cryptosporidium parvun was found in tap water samples from 6 country water plants,Giardia lamblia stiles was found in sources water samples from 1 country water plant,Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum were found in post-treated wastewater samples from 2 wastewater treatment plants. Conclusion:The results indicate that the existing of Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum in surface water, and the potential pollution in source water.Health management must be strengthened in order to insure producing safe drinking water.
