Abstract

Objective To investigate the contamination of Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia in waste water in Shenzhen City. Methods Samples of post-treated wastewater were collected from 3 wastewater treatment plants in Shenzhen using the immunomagenetic asymphytous Gimsa coloration method.Parasitic protozoa Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum were detectcd by following steps:filtering, washing, magnetic isolation and staining. Results Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum were found in post-treated wastewater samples from 2 wastewater treatment plants. Conclusion The results indicate that the existing of Giardia lamblia stiles and Cryptosporidium parvum in the post-treated wastewater was the potential pollution source to surface water.
