An Analysis of the Narrative Point of View in Tess of the D'Urbervilles

The technique,narrative point of used in modern novels,is a hot subject in narrative research circle.But in the traditional novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles,Thomas Hardy was not restricted in the habitually used narrative method,the omniscient point of view,but adopted appropriately the character's limited point of view and multiple points of view in a flexible way to portray the character's personalities,emphasizing the features and moral principles of the age in the life of the characters,and showing the author's writing purpose.Detailed analysis will be made on the use of these points of view by which the author will point out the roles in the portrait of the character and the elucidation of the narrator's creative ideas.
