Abstract

Objective:To investigate the change of adrenomedullin receptor(ADMR) in renal injury of diabetes and the effect of valsantan on the expression of ADMR mRNA. Methods:The SD rats were randomly divided into the following groups:normal rats, STZ-induced diabetic rats and diabetic rats treated with valsantan. STZ-induced diabetic rats were treated with valsantan(10 mg/kg body weight) or vehicle for 8 weeks. The expression of ADMR mRNA in renal cortex were analysed by RT-PCR. Results:①Valsantan treatment increased body weight of dibetic rats, and reduced urinary albunin excretion in 24 h,compared with the untreated rats. But no notable difference was found in HbA1c and blood sugar between the two groups; ②Valsantan treatment increased the expression of ADMR mRNA in diabetic rats renal cortex. Conclusion:Valsantan treatment can alleviate renal injury of diabetic rats. Our findings suggest that the beneficial effect of valsantan might be mediated by ADMR.
