Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of Valsantan, blocker of angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor,on the expression of adrenomedullin receptor protein in diabetic rats renal cortex. Methods: Male SD rats were divided into 3 groups, group N(n=10): control rats, group D(n=8): the diabetic rats without treatment, and group V(n=7): the diabetic rats treated with Valsantan(10 mg/kg body weight). The diabetic model was made by the intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. At the end of 8th week, the kidneys were taken out from all the rats to assay the expression of ADMR protein by Western blot. Results:(1)valsantan treatment increased body weight of dibetic rats, and reduced urinary albumin excretion in 24 h,compared with the untreated. But no notable difference was seen in HbA1c and blood sugar between the two groups.(2) valsantan treatment increased the expression of ADMR protein in diabetic rats renal cortex. Conclusion: Valsantan treatment can alleviate renal injury of diabetic rats, while increase the expression of renal ADMR protein in diabetic rats.It suggests that the beneficial effect might be mediated by ADMR.
