Abstract
Geiger is one of the major representatives of German phenomenology.He directly employed phenomenological methods in the field of the aesthetical research.By using the viewpoints and methods typical of phenomenology,he reexamined and criticized the dual thought methods and cognitive and psychological modes in the traditional western aesthetics,establishing the theory of phenomenological artistic meaning.This theory studies concretely the value relationship and all kinds of meanings in literary art,and the relationship between literature and aesthetics.It played an important role in the modern turn of the German literature.
