Abstract

A polymethacrylic acid/montmorillonite (PMAA/MMT) nanocomposite was prepared via the monomer in situ polymeriza- tion. Methacrylic acid was polymerized directly in Na-montmorillonite layers by free radical initiation. The impacts of the initiator and MMT dosage on the nanocomposite structure were studied by mono-factor experiment with the interlayer space of MMT, poly- mer content in MMT interlayer galleries and application results as review targets. The results show that the PMAA/MMT nanocom- posite formed is an exfoliated nanocomposite. The increment ratio and wet-heat resistance of tanned leather polymethacrylic acid/ montmorillonite were improved.
