Abstract

Compost maturity is an important factor during the compost application. The compost test in a automatic compost device using feed plot manure (chicken manure, chicken manure and rice husk, pig manure) and agriculture waste (rice husk) was conducted to study the effect of different carbon nitrogen ratios and inoculating microbes on the compost maturity, rutrient contents and forms, and to establish fast and efficient techniques and conditions for composting. The results indicate: rice husk is a kind of material with high carbon and silicon content which are difficult to be decomposed; and the changes of the carbon and the carbon nitrogen ratio (C/N) are so small that the change of the C/N can not determine whether the compost is mature or not. While indicator of WSC/or-N and I G(GI) can reflect the maturity of the compost. Using the ratio of pig manure:rice husk and chicken manure:rice husk=6:3.8(4):5 and the amendment of the 0.5% inoculating microbes can speed the maturity of the compost and shorten the composting time to 14~21 d. The content of phosphorate in the compost is increased during the composting process.
