Driving Forces of Land Use Changing in the City Region——A Case Study of Liling City

Abstract

Analysis on the driving forces of land use change in the city region may not only provide the scientific foundation basis for the rational land use and protection in the new turn, but also act as the important policy-making foundation of the regional sustainable development. This paper reveals the characteristics of land utilization and analyzes its driving forces according to the statistics data of arable-land area during the past eight years from 1997 to 2004 and detailed-investigation of land use during the recent years. Based on relevant analysis, the main conclusions are shown below: Since 1997, the land use change of Li ling city has manifested for the decrease of the cultivated land utilization and the increase of city construction land utilization; On the basis of this, the paper reveals the driving factors of the changes are GDP, the population growth and the internal structure adjust of agricultural land use. In addition, the factors, such as national policy guide and the government planning, also play an important role in the changing of land utilization.
