Abstract
Objective: To investigate erythromycin resistanc e erm、mef gene of is olated streptococcus pneumoniae in Suzhou area. Methods: Twenty three strains of streptococcus pneumoniae were collected from 2002.9 t o 2003.4 at Chil dren Hospital of S uzhou University. Building PCR system and detecting erm、mef gene of 23 strains isolated streptococcus pneumoniae. Twenty three srains type: 17 erythromycin re sistant str ains, 3 erythromycin middle-sensitive strains, 3 erythromycin sensitive strai ns. Results: Erythromycin resistant、 middle-sensitive、 sen sitive strains had erythromycin resistance gene 94.1%(16/17),100%(3/3),33.3%(1/3). In 23 srain s there were ermB gene 43.5%(10/23), etmA/ermB gene 69.6%(16/23),mefA gen e 26.1%(6/23 ),erm or/and mef gene 87.0%(20/23). Erythromycin resistant type strains bro ught erythromycin resistance gene: 93.3%(14/15)erm gene, 100%(4/4)only ermA gene, 87.5%(14/16)ermA/B gene, 50%(2/4)mef gene, 80%(16/20)erm or/and mef gene. Conclusion: Isolated srains of streptococcus pneumoni ae in Suzhou area had had erythromycin resistance ermA、ermB、mef gene, and they led that streptoc occu s pneumoniae resistance to erythromycin when they,only one or all, expressed.
