Abstract
Objective:to investigate resistance mechanism of streptococcus pneumoniae against erythromycin and tetracycline in Jiangxi Children hospital. Methods: Thirty-five strains of streptococcus pneumoniae were collected from clinic samples. Erythromycin and tetracycline phenotype were done with drug sensitive test. ErmA/B/C、meA and TeMt genes were detected with PCR. Results: Tweenty-eight strains (80%) were ermA/B/C genotype,29 (83%) were mefA genotype , both erm and mef genes were found in 34 strains (97%),30 strains (86%) were TetM genotype. Conclusion:The four kinds of drug resistance genes ermA/B/C and mef express alone or together, which may induce erythromycin-resistance. TetM is the main gene which causes tetracycline-resistance of streptococcus pneumoniae. The local streptococcus pneumoniac had already challenged the non-β-lactan antibiotic.
