Breeding of Fine Quality CMS Line Qinxiang A in Rice

Qinxiang A,derived from the testcross of Jin 23 A with an F4 plant of the cross of Yue 4B//(Yue 4B/Chenyouzao 1)F3,is a new CMS line with fine grain quality in rice developed by Yueyang Agricultural Research Institute of Hunan Province.It is characteristic of stable and complete male sterility,good flowering habits,high outcrossing rate,easiness in multiplication and hybrid seed production,good grain quality,grains with popcorn aroma,good restorability and high combining ability.In February,2008,it was certified by Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee.
