A Review of Hu Shi's "Vernacular History of Literature"

Hu Shi's Vernacular History of Literature is obviously the history in order to create today's literature.Hu Shi was rather indicating one kind of new manner than writing the history.This kind of new manner may be called a manner of judgment.Whether his judgment is correct has been already apparent.However the basic significance of Vernacular History of Literature does not lie in the result of the judgment but the innovation of the literature ideas demonstrated by the judgment which is still inspiring to us even nowadays.
