Abstract
A series of complexes (Eu1-xYx)2L3·3H2O have been synthesized using p-phthalic acid as ligand. Their compositions and structures were determined by elemental analysis, UV spectra, and FT-IR spectra, respectively. Their luminescent properties were also investigated by photoluminescence (PL) spectra. Highly enhanced characteristic emission corresponding to Eu3+ was observed by the incorporation of Y3+ into the complex. A maximum PL intensity was obtained when the mole ratio of europium to yttrium was 0.05∶0.95.
