Abstract
The experiment was carried out to study the effects of seven different mowing methods on chlorophyll content and root activity with the Lolium perenne eminent. The results showed that all seven methods could affect the chlorophyll content and root activity of Lolium perenne, but the affeced level was not equal.Under 1/2 height in every two weeks treatment, the chlorophyll content and root activity of Lolium perenne were highest. The chlorophyll content of Lolium perenne treated by 1/2 height and 2/3 height in every four weeks were higher than others.Be treated in every four weeks mowing frequency, the root activities of 1/2 height and 1/3 height treatment were higher than 2/3 height and no mowing. The optimal mowing methods were 1/2 height in every two weeks and 1/2 height in every four weeks in order to gain better turf grass quality of Lolium perenne.
