Abstract

Involute gear virtual machining is completed on the basis of enveloping theory by combining the engineering knowledge module CATIA and geometry of Boolean operation, and by using the virtual standard rack-type cutter. The precise involute gear model with complete tooth profile characteristic is obtained. This method provides a new idea for gear modeling.
