Abstract

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of heart protective effect of rosiglitazone on diabetic rat heart.Methods:Forty-eight male rats were randomly divided into normal control group(C),diabetic rat group(T)and rosiglitazone treatment group(R).After 8 weeks and 12 weeks, transmission electron microscope were used to examine the myocardial ultrastructure of the rats. And blood glucose, weight, index of heart weight, area of heart cell and C peptide in the blood were measured at the same time. Results:Compared with group C,myocardial mitochondrion were swelled and degenerationed, myofibril were focally dissolved degeneration myocardial fibers arranged irregularly, and fractured in group T and R,pathological changes were aggravated in group T,myocardial pathological changes were alleviated in group R,and reduces obviously along with the treatment course progress. Conclusion:Rosiglitazone may play a protective role in the heart of STZ diabetic rats.
