Abstract

Objective To study the expression of survivin gene in laryneal carcinoma and its significance. Methods The expression of survivin mRNA in laryngeal carcinoma and tissue around laryngeal carcinoma (40 cases) were detected by RT-PCR methods. The immunohistochemistry technique was used to detect the expression of survivin gene in tissue of laryngeal carcinoma (120 cases). Results RT-PCR methods showed that the survivin mRNA expression were detected in Hep-2 cell lines and 27 of 40 ( 67.5%) laryngeal carcinoma tissues, while survivin were negative in all of tissues around laryngeal carcinoma. SP methods showed that the positive rate of survivin gene in laryngeal carcinoma was 66.7% and the positive rate was correlated with lymph node metastasis, recurrence, clinical stage, etc (P 0.05). Conclusion There is clinical significance of the expression of survivin gene in evaluating the development of laryngeal carcinoma and predicating the prognosis of the patients. Survivin gene will be the new target of gene therapy in laryngeal carcinoma.
