Development and Evaluation of Classification Training Program for Core Capability of Grade 1 Nurses in ICU

Objective To explore a suitable and effective core capability training program and standard of procedure(SOP) for N1 nurses(nurse grade 1-an assistant in nursing) in ICU.Methods The core capability of young nurses was evaluated and their posts and ranks were designated.The classification trainings manual was designed.The core capability training integrated one-to-one teaching model,collective lessons,observation lively,demonstrations and medical ward round teaching.After the program,the training completed ratio,theory and practice testing,adverse event rate and clinical working efficiency were evaluated.Results There were 116 nurses completed the training program,the passing rate was 97.48%,among which 20 nurses completed N1-2 stage clinical training while 13 nurses completed N1-3 stage.The adverse event rate in N1-2 group and N1-3 group was not statistically different(P0.05).Conclusion The proper core capability classification training SOP for N1 nurses is an effective way for young nurses in ICU to improve their core capability and nursing quality.
