Abstract

The closely distributed submarine pipelines, cables and tubular abandoned materials in the neighborhood of offshore oil platform are difficult to be distinguished between them, which might constitute hazards to the offshore platform and ship operations. In this paper, the available and effective instruments, equipment and methods for detecting submarine pipeline and cable are used to study the techniques for detecting the submarine pipelines and cables in the neighborhood of the Chengdao offshore oil platform and to explore the best detection method and measures for the Chengdao oil field sea area, and the performances and methods of different instruments for detecting the submarine pipeline and cable, the matters needing attention in the detection process and the problems with the detection of pipeline and cable are comprehensively introduced.
