Abstract

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Montelukast on infant bronchiolitis. Methods Seventy-six infants with bronchiolitis were randomly divided into two groups, one was observation group(n=38),the other was control group(n=38).The treatment of Montelukast group consisted of both regular therapy and Montelukast therapy, with Montelukast added1 years 4 mg/d scheffe taken one time,1 year old 4 mg/d,every night taken one time, till symptoms disappeared.Pant, cough, wet detect rales degree and the duration were observed. Results The cure rate of the Montelukast group was 97.37%,and that of the regular therapy group was 84.20%.Montelukast observation group was superior to the regular therapy group in relieving symptoms and shortening the duration of wheezing and cough. The difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion As a new non-hormone anti-inflammatory agent the Montelukast is one of the effective agents and is convenient to use in treating infant bronchiolitis and seems promising in clinic practice.
