Abstract

Objective:To investigate the frequency of variant aldosterone synthase(CYP11B2)gene and its relation to pedigreed primary hypertension. Methods:A pedigree based case-control study was conducted using PCR-RELP techniques to explore the relation between aldosterone synthase gene polymorphism and primary hypertension of 276 subjects in 65 pedigrees. Results:There was a significant difference in TT gene type between hypertension group and nomortension group(P0.01).There were significant differnces in TT gene type between each generation of both groups(P0.01).There were significant differnces in T allele between each generation of both groups(P0.01).Conclusion :There was significant difference in the distribution of T-allele frequency of CYP11B2 gene between primary hypertension pedigrees and normotension pedigrees.T-allele may be one of inherited markers of pedigreed primary hypertension.
