Abstract

Objective To detect the value of CT perfusion imaging in preoperative grading astrocytoma and its correlation with matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)expression.Methods CT perfusion imaging was performed on 34 astrocytomas(14 low grade astrocytomas and 20 high grade astrocytomas). The cerebral blood flow(CBF),circulating blood volume(CBV)and surface permeability were determined. The relationship between CBV and MMP-9 expression was analysed. Results The values of CBF,CBV and surface permeability in astrocytoma were all higher than those of the normal cerebral tissue. The values of CBF,CBV and surface permeability of the high grade astrocytomas were higher than those of low grade astrocytomas. There was a positive correlation between CBV value and MMP-9 expression. Conclusion CT perfusion imaging is valuable in preoperative grading astrocytoma in clinical procedures. The CBV value is feasible for evaluating the invasion of astrocytomas.
