A Restudy of Zhou Yafu and the Deposition of Crown Prince Li in Han Dynasty

Abstract
The story about Zhou Yafu persuading Emperor Jing of Han Dynasty not to depose Crown Prince Li written on Shiji and Han Shu has caught much attention;it has been researched from different angles.By discussing the period of Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty deposing the crown prince and of Zhou Yafu taking charge of the royal administration,it seemed impossible that Zhou persuaded the emperor not to depose the crown prince.Actually it was Dou Ying,teacher of the Crown Prince Li that persuaded the emperor not to do so.Zhou’s death was not directly related to the deposition.Emperor Jing found excuse to have arrested and killed Zhou with the aim of clearing all the obstacles on the way of the prince’s future reign.
