Abstract

Objective To study life events,family caring and coping style in patients with somatoform disorders.Methods Thirty patients with somatoform disorders(study group) and 124 normal controls(control group) were assessed by Life Event Scale(LES),APGER index(APGAR) and Coping style questionnaire.Results ①The study group had experienced significantly more negative life events and higher quantities of life events stimulation and fewer positive life events than control group(P0.01)(P0.05).②The factor scores of partnership,affection,cooperation of family care and total score of APGAR in study group were significantly lower than those of control group(P0.05).③The facor scores of solving problem,seeking help in study group were significantly lower than those of control group(P0.01),and the scores of ERA,fantasy in study group were significantly higher than those of control group(P0.05).The scores of rationalization and retreat had no significant between two groups(P 0.05).Conclusion Patients with somatoform disorder would experience more negative life events and poorer family care.They often take negative,passive and immature coping style.
