Abstract
The graft copolymerization of vinylacetate(VAc) onto cassava starch using Fe~(2+)-H_2O_2 as initiator was studied. The reaction conditions of graft copolymerization were investigated. When the mass ratio of monomer and starch was 1.0~2.0,the concentration of initiator 1.0 mmol/L,the ratio of H_2O_2 and Fe~(2+) 2,the reaction temperature 40°C and reaction time 3 h,the monomer conversion(C%),grafted ratio(PG%) and grafted efficiency(GE%) were 86.47%、55.30% and 31.98%,respectively.The structure analysis of the graft copolymer was conducted by IR and SEM.The mechanism of initiation was also discussed.
