Abstract

Objective To determine the effect of hyaluronic acid and triamcinolone acetonide on knee osteoarthritis. Methods Totally 100 patients with knee osteoarthritis from Jan 2011 to Dec 2012 were divided into 2 groups. The 2 groups both took common therapy. The therapy group used hyaluronic acid via intraarticular injection while the control group had triamcinolone acetonide via intraarticular injection. Results The clinlcal symptoms of the 2 groups were both improved, but the effect of the 2 groups had no signif icant difference(94.00% vs 84.00%,P 0.05).The Lequesne score of the 2 groups at 7 d,1 month and 3 months after the therapy was all lower than before, and the Lequesne score of the therapy group at 7 d and 1 month after the therapy was lower than that in the control group(P 0.05).The total effective rate in the therapy group 6 months after the therapy was higher than that in the control group(84.00% vs 38.00%,P 0.05).Conclusion The shortterm effi cacy of hyaluronic acid and triamcinolone acetonide via intraarticular injection on knee osteoarthritis is no different, but the long-term eff icacy of hyaluronic acid is obviously better than that of triamcinolone acetonide.
