Abstract
Objective To study the effect of noise on distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) and. transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) of normal hearing youths. Methods DPOAE and TEOAE were recorded in 102 ears of normal hearing youths in a sound - treated environment and a none sound - treated environment (55-65 dBSpL) with Cappella Emission Analyzer. The data were analyzed by SPSS 10. 0. Results The amplitude of DPOAE had no significant difference (P 0. 05) in the two types of environment, but it had significant difference in TEOAE. The S/N - ratio, time, acceptecl times, Corr and pass - rate showed significant difference in the two types of environment. Conclusion Noise of the environment (55 - 65 dBSpL) has a clear effect on TEOAE, but less obvious effect on DPOAE. DPOAE is more precise than TEOAE for hearing screening, especially in the none sound - treated environment.
