Diagnosis advantage of multi slice spiral computed tomography of ankle joint occult fracture

Objective To discuss the advantage of multislice helical CT on ankle fracture diagnosis.Methods 80 cases of ankle trauma with significant clinical manifestations were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into two groups.The first group of 32 cases was treated with only X-ray examination without CT while the second group of 48 cases received CT examination after X-ray.The two groups of patients' positive diagnostic rates and accuracy rates had been statistical analyzed.Results The first group of patients' positive detection rate was 75% while the second group was 83%.In addition,the CT examination played a complementary role on other 38% patients after X-ray.Conclusion X ray examination is limited while the multi-slice spiral CT with the multiple planar reconstruction and 3D reconstruction and other post-processing technique is reliable on diagnosis of ankle fractures.
