Abstract

Recently animal experiments indicates that statins are available for treatment of sepsis, which can improve animals' survival rate. The main mechanisms by which statins appear to be an effective drug for sepsis is increased expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS),in conjunction with down-regulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS).Combined, this keeps the balance between eNOS and iNOS,thus restoring endothelial function. Now relevant experiments are reviewed in this paper.
