Abstract

George Ernest Morrison was an active foreigner who had large influence on the political stage of China at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. He reported and advocated the Xin-zheng Reforms carried out by the Qing government positively and optimistically during the period of the New Policy of the Late Qing Dynasty. He argued that the reform had brought the weak China into a new era.His reports lifted the image of China in the Western World to some extent. However,as an alien who was marked by the best British colonist, his observation to the New Policy had large limitations.
