Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of music therapy used in patients with depression. Methods We randomly selected 120 patients meeting the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-IV depression into music therapy group and control group;clinical efficacy assessed using the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) before treatment and after 8 weeks. Results A total of 113 cases completed the study,no significant difference between the two sets of general information;8 weeks after treatment,decreased significantly(P0.05) in the two groups Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) total score than before treatment,music therapy group than in the control group decreased significantly(P0.05). Conclusions Music therapy combined with antidepressant treatment of depression than single more significant therapeutic effect of antidepressants..
